    Hey there, I’m Nadine.

I am an educator, mentor, and author. A lover of words, purpose, and all things soulful. I was born in the sunshine of Florida, but my roots? My roots are deep in the revolutionary soil of Haiti. I am also a proud alumna of the GREAT Bethune-Cookman University.

Writing has always been one of my favorite ways to express myself. As a kid, I was penning heartbreak songs in my diary, dropping haikus just for the fun of it, and crafting short stories out of thin air. Writing is a safe space for me. But writing books? That wasn’t in my plan. I never saw myself as an author—until a mentor and professor planted that seed. Even then, I laughed it off. Me? Write a book? Nah. I knew if I was going to write, it had to mean something. It had to come from the soul.

And then, life happened. Late 2019 into early 2020, I found myself in one of the darkest places I’d ever been. My confidence? Gone. My sense of self? Shattered. I kept wondering---how did I get here? I used to be so sure of myself, even in my struggles. One evening in February, I was sitting in my car, I took out my phone, opened my "Notes" app and began writing. That night, Imani’s Crown, my debut children's book, was born—a love letter to self-confidence, self-worth, and stepping boldly into who you are. That book? It saved me. It reminded me of the light I thought I lost.

Now, I write for the little girl I used to be, inspired by the woman I’m becoming every day. Every story I tell and write is intentional, rooted in love, and poured straight from my spirit. And that? That’s the kind of storytelling I live for.

Imani's Joy, my latest book, is all about embracing life's simple yet powerful joys, the ones that cost little but fill our hearts with endless love. I hope Imani's Joy inspires you to take your joy back, share your joys, embrace your joys, and even be the joy in someone's dark cloud. Your joy may be the only thing that keeps someone from giving up.

    Imani's Crown

    Imani's Joy

Imani’s Crown is a heartwarming and sweet children’s book that follows a young girl named Imani as she navigates feelings of self-doubt and discovers the power of self-love and self-confidence. Through gentle guidance from her mother and affirming inner reflections, Imani learns that her "crown", a symbol of her confidence, culture, and identity, shines brightest when she believes in herself. This is not only about hair but about embodying the brilliance we were created to be. This empowering story celebrates beauty, hard work, and the journey toward self-acceptance, encouraging young and adult readers to embrace who they are with pride.

Imani’s Joy is a vibrant follow-up to book #1, Imani’s Crown, celebrating the everyday magic that comes from embracing who you are and doing what you love. After winning her school’s spelling bee, Imani is bursting with pride and joy. With her mother by her side, she celebrates her win and prepares for the upcoming “Joy Jam” at school—a special event curated by her teacher, Ms. Thomas, where each student shares what brings them joy. From smoothies to storytelling, jump roping to rapping, Imani and her classmates show how joy can be found in both big achievements and small, meaningful moments. This joyful story encourages children to honor their voices, express their creativity, and find joy in being unapologetically themselves.

"A beautifully thought out book. What I love the most is that it makes it a point to make sure our black girls know their hair is beautiful. I purchased it for my nieces from Haiti and read it to them they loved it."
